Clinical Effectiveness and Equity Lead Tauranga



The Bay of Plenty District Health Board is currently seeking a Clinical Effectiveness and Equity Lead to join their team based in the Tauranga Hospital. This is a newly developed full time position where you will be working across both the Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals. This position is likely to start in late January - early February 2020. 

This role is responsible for sustainably measuring healthcare quality and health outcomes to more precisely inform, plan and monitor clinical effectiveness and equity improvement initiatives. 

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring equity, for Tāngata Whenua, is central to our commitment under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, healthcare quality and safety measurement and in a manner which integrates iwi understandings and aspirations.
  • Reporting into and supporting the Clinical Director to develop and implement and embed a cohesive, effective and equitable health quality and patient system for better health outcomes and patient experience.
  • Recognising individual responsibility for workplace Health and Safety under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
  • Establishing effective working relationships with a number of key stakeholders.  

Your skills and attributes will include the following:

  • NZ Registered Health Professional
  • Relevant Masters level qualification in Public Health or equivalent
  • Proven ability to rapidly plan and deliver effective analysis of patient safety data, issues and questions
  • Knowledge in Quality Improvement and or Project Management with an ability to implement results of evaluations to improve health services
  • Competent in integrating Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori health models and frameworks into practice
  • The ability to be courageous and be willing to challenge the status quo in a professional manner
  • The ability to see possibilities, potential and tangible opportunities to create an outstanding and integrated healthcare system
  • High levels of emotional intelligence, communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to bring people together towards common goals
  • Strong leadership, coaching, training and development skills
