Training Programme Director NZCPHM

The role of the Training Programme Director is to provide national professional leadership and oversight of the training programme, and to ensure the delivery of high quality training throughout New Zealand.

This is a part time, 24 hour per month (0.15 FTE) role. 

 

Experience and Attributes:

  • A minimum of eight years' experience as a vocationally registered public health medicine specialist
  • Currently practising as a public health medicine specialist
  • Current Fellowship of the College
  • In good standing with the College
  • Participation in the College's Tracking of Professional Standards Programme
  • Vision and ability to lead and develop the training programme
  • Ability to represent the organisation well and articulate organisational values
  • Understanding of organisational dynamics and the political influences on the organisation
  • Ability to promote and influence a positive culture with the training programme stakeholders
  • Ability to manage complex situations where information is not always available or certain
  • Highly desirable to have experience in education and assessment

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Provide national professional leadership and oversight of the training programme, ensuring the delivery of a high quality programme for public health medicine in New Zealand
  • Promote consistency of the training programme throughout New Zealand
  • Ensure the training programme has a focus on the Treaty of Waitangi and Māori health
  • Ensure the training programme is promoted to relevant stakeholders
  • Provide leadership for the accreditation and reaccreditation of training sites
  • Ensure the recruitment of registrars is robust and inclusive
  • Contribute to matters involving health, performance and remedial issues of registrars, and other relevant workplace issues
  • Participate in the appeal process for registrar grievances
  • Participate as non-voting member of the Education and Training Committee
