Equity in Health
Many New Zealanders receive inequitable experiences within our health system, which has led to unacceptable disparities amongst our communities. Equity in Health will focus on approaches to improve the equity of our health system. These approaches recognise the need to focus resources in ways that will allow impacted communities to overcome disadvantages that they experience.
This kaupapa will explore the evidence base for an equity approach and examine best practice. Research consistently shows Māori are not getting the same treatment or access to services resulting in different health outcomes. It is important that the upcoming large-scale reform process achieves the long overdue improvement in outcomes that disadvantaged communities deserve.
Key sessions not to miss:
- Māori Health Authority breakdown - how it will assist in overcoming inequities
- Approaches to achieving more equitable workforce representation
- Reducing health inequities through appropriate and accessible primary health care
- Addressing the inequity of health outcomes for those living with disabilities
This conference is planned as a live event in Wellington, however may be run online if necessary.
